The Indian Army is the part of the Indian Armed Forces that works on land. Its main job is to keep India safe from people who might try to hurt the country from outside or from problems, inside the country. The Indian Army also helps to keep the peace and provides help to people in need. The Indian Army does all this to protect India and make sure everyone is safe.

The Indian Navy is the part of the Indian Armed Forces that takes care of the water. It is responsible for keeping India safe by protecting the coastline of India, the paths that ships take to trade with other countries and the important things that India needs to protect in the Indian Ocean Region. The Indian Navy operates as a strong navy that can go far into the ocean with its ships, submarines and aircraft. 

The Indian Air Force is a part of the Indian Armed Forces. The Indian Air Force is in charge of keeping the air space of India safe. The Indian Air Force also has to fight wars in the air. The Indian Air Force has to stop countries from attacking India by being strong. The Indian Air Force is one of the largest air force, in the world.

Special Forces

Join The Elite

The Indian Armed Forces have Special Forces that’re really good at what they do. These Special Forces are trained to do things that’re not normal. They do things like fight against terrorists. Take part in secret missions.
The main Special Forces are the Para Special Forces from the Army the MARCOS from the Navy and the Garud, from the Air Force.
Now these Special Forces work together as a team called the Armed Forces Special Operations Division. This team does things that’re very dangerous and have to be done quickly. The Special Forces do these things for the Indian Armed Forces.

Selection Board

The Indian Armed Forces have a tough process to choose people for important jobs in the Army, Navy and Air Force. This process is called the Services Selection Board. It takes five days. The Services Selection Board is not just about how you did, in school. The Services Selection Board looks at what kind of person you’re how you think.

They want to see if you have the qualities they need for an officer. They call these Officer-Like Qualities. There are 15 Officer-Like Qualities they look for in people. To find out if you have these Officer-Like Qualities they give you tests make you do group exercises and have individual interviews with you.

The Indian Armed Forces give out awards called Gallantry awards. These awards are for people who show a lot of bravery and sacrifice themselves. There are two types of Gallantry awards. One is for when we are at war and the other is for when we are at peace. The President gives out these awards on two days: Republic Day and Independence Day. The biggest awards are the Param Vir Chakra and the Ashoka Chakra. The Param Vir Chakra is for when we are at war. The Ashoka Chakra is for when we are at peace. They started giving out the Param Vir Chakra in 1950. The Ashoka Chakra in 1952.
